Now, now, it isn’t US they’re making fun of . Not US. It’s the people who only read particular wildly popular children’s book series. We read this stuff all year round and are therefore above reproach.
Oh, that’s plausible, Wendy. I was thinking they were making fun of how many adults of my generation, broadly defined, mostly read YA, but actually it’s more likely it’s a Twilight – Harry Potter joke. Subtle difference!
I’m just glad not to have been reduced to an Area Man…
I can see mocking ppl for Twilight but if mocking ppl for their love of the BSC, Judy Blume, Harriet the Spy, Paula Danziger, or Maurice Sendak, then mock me all you want. You’ll get Little Bear FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS.
I didn’t get the feeling that they meant to make fun of people like us, but gosh they sure did a good impression of how my coworkers and I act when a new Elephant and Piggie book is unpacked.
